quran verse about ramadan fasting 7 QURAN VERSE ABOUT RAMADHAN AND FASTING

Ramadan is a month of mercy and forgiveness because in this month Allah swt sent down the Qur'an as a guide for humans and the explanations of the instructions as differentiation (between the right and the false).

This month, Muslims are obliged to fast for a whole month as a form of practice in the 3rd form of Islam. This is based on the hadith of the Prophet (pbuh) which means "Indeed, there has come to you a blessingsful month. This month is obligatory for you to fast." (HR. Ahmad, An-Nasa'i and Al-Bayhaqi).

Since Ramadan only comes once a year, of course this opportunity should not be wasted given how many blessings and glory this month. The following verses will be presented about the virtues of Ramadan and fasting:

QURAN VERSE ABOUT RAMADHAN

Ramadan is a month of grace and glory. Every worship and goodness performed in this month will be multiplied by Allah SWT. Here are some of the virtues of Ramadan described in the Qur'an:

The appointed days are the month of Ramadan, the month in which the Qur'an is revealed as a guidance for mankind and explanations of the guidance and the distinction. So whoever of you is present in that month, let him fast that month, and whoever is sick or on a journey, then as many days as he has left, on other days. Allah desires ease for you, and does not desire hardship for you. And be sufficient in numbers, and glorify Allah for His guidance given to you, that you may be grateful.

2. Quran Al – Qadar Verse 01 - 03

(1)Innā anzalnāhu fī lailatil-qadr

(2)Wa mā adrāka mā lailatul-qadr

(3)Lailatul-qadri khairum min alfi syahr

(1) We have sent it down on the Night of Glory.

(2) And what will make you know what the Night of Glory is?

(3) The night of glory is better than a thousand months.

QURAN VERSE ABOUT FASTING

Fasting is the 3rd harmony of Islam. Fasting is mandatory for Muslims in Ramadan. In addition, there are many more fasts – Sunnah fasts such as Monday – Thursday fasting, David's fast, and other obligatory fasts such as vow fasting and kafarat fasting. There are many virtues of fasting, some of which are training to control lust, increase disingendience, remove sin, multiply charity, perfect obedience, and increase gratitude.

Here will be given some verses of the Qur'an explaining about fasting:

3. Quran Al – Baqarah Verse 183

Yā ayyuhallażīna āmanụ kutiba 'alaikumuṣ-ṣiyāmu kamā kutiba 'alallażīna ming qablikum la'allakum tattaqụn

O you who believe! It is obligatory for you to fast as required of those before you, that you may be godfearing.

Ayyāmam ma'dụdāt, fa mang kāna mingkum marīḍan au 'alā safarin fa 'iddatum min ayyāmin ukhar, wa 'alallażīna yuṭīqụnahụ fidyatun ṭa'āmu miskīn, fa man taṭawwa'a khairan fa huwa khairul lah, wa an taṣụmụ khairul lakum ing kuntum ta'lamụn

"On a certain day, if one of you is sick or is on a walk and then he does break the fast, it is obligatory for him to change the fast as many days as he left on another day. And it is obligatory for the difficulty of living it to pay fidyah, i.e. feeding for the poor. So whoever willingly does good, that is better for him. And fasting is better for you if you know it."

Lā yu`ākhiżukumullāhu bil-lagwi fī aimānikum wa lākiy yu`ākhiżukum bimā 'aqqattumul-aimān, fa kaffāratuhū iṭ'āmu 'asyarati masākīna min ausaṭi mā tuṭ'imụna ahlīkum au kiswatuhum au taḥrīru raqabah, fa mal lam yajid fa ṣiyāmu ṡalāṡati ayyām, żālika kaffāratu aimānikum iżā ḥalaftum, waḥfaẓū aimānakum, każālika yubayyinullāhu lakum āyātihī la'allakum tasykurụn

"Allah does not punish you by your oaths, but Allah punishes you by unlawful oaths, so it is obligatory for you to feed ten poor people out of the food you used to give your family, or by giving clothes, or by freeing slaves. If he is unable to do so, he will fast for three days."

6. Quran Maryam Verse 26

Fa kulī wasyrabī wa qarrī 'ainā, fa immā tarayinna minal-basyari aḥadan fa qụlī innī nażartu lir-raḥmāni ṣauman fa lan ukallimal-yauma insiyyā

So eat, drink, and have fun. If you see a human being, say, "I have vowed to fast for the Most Gracious, and I will not speak to any human being today."

Yā ayyuhallażīna āmanụ lā taqtuluṣ-ṣaida wa antum ḥurum, wa mang qatalahụ mingkum muta'ammidan fa jazā`um miṡlu mā qatala minan-na'ami yaḥkumu bihī żawā 'adlim mingkum hadyam bāligal-ka'bati au kaffāratun ṭa'āmu masākīna au 'adlu żālika ṣiyāmal liyażụqa wa bāla amrih, 'afallāhu 'ammā salaf, wa man 'āda fa yantaqimullāhu min-h, wallāhu 'azīzun żuntiqām

O you who believe! And whoever of you kills it intentionally, the penalty is to replace it with a livestock equal to that which he killed, according to the judgement of two just men among you as a hadeeth brought to the Ka'bah, or to pay the kaffarat by feeding the poor or fasting in balance with it, so that he may taste the evil consequences of his deeds. God has forgiven what is past. And whoever returns to it, He will punish him. Allah has power over all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth.
